I'm not sure you're aware of it, but spider camo gives you 75% camo (w/o facepaint & 85~90% at night) anywhere not just in the forest, also the pain is way easier to beat if you actually move from your initial position and use one poisoned mushroom (don't even need to get it beforehand, they're right there)

against the end you could have used stun grenades and finished him in 5 minutes & the thing on the mountain is the oxigen concentration in high altitudes is lower making it hard to breathe
