Senator Claire McCaskill reached across the aisle with Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) to colleagues Senators John McCain (R-AZ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Tom Coburn (R-OK) to introduce a major earmark reform bill that would cut down on wasteful government spending. The bipartisan group introduced the Fiscal Discipline, Earmark Reform, and Accountability Act of 2009, which would take aggressive steps to prevent pork barrel funding in appropriations bills without transparency and congressional approval.

  • Thank God somebody have the guts to point out this wasteful spending , because this is money we can use to balance the budget.

  • Congressional Earmarks will probably never be eliminated unfortunately but we can certainly reform the process and make them less wasteful.

  • SOCIALISM DONT WORK.. OR IMMIGRANTS WOULDNT BE COMING OVER TO AMERICA FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD, IN MILLIONS. ROCKET SCIENTISTS CANT FIGURE THIS OUT... CLEAN OUT THE WHITE HOUSE GET COMMON SENSE IN THERE...PLEASE...

  • I'm sad to say I don't think its posable to eliminate Congressional Earmarks because there used to get reelected like Campaign Funds. But it is posable to reform the Earmark Process. Force all earmarks that are put into any bill to be paid for by cutting something else hopefully or raising revenue. Disclose all earmarks to what member they go to & what district or state before their voted on. Force all earmarks to be relevant to the bill that there attached to as well as other things.

  • Even though I consider myself conservative, it's great to see Senator Feingold REMAIN true to his word and his policies against earmarks and wasteful spending. Keep up the great work!
