My grandpa was the lead navigator of his squadron, in the 8th Army Air Foce. He flew 30 missions: most in the B-17's but some in B-24's and B-25's. One of my moms cousin told me that he was even shot down and rescued, and they all survived to be rescued. I don't know any more than that though.
