Faith and Hope
In 2007, the first UVSA Charity Gala was organized to support the Catalyst Foundation, an organization that provides social services for adopted Vietnamese children in the US and humanitarian relief for poor communities in Vietnam. In that event, 250 young leaders from UC Davis all the way down to San Jose gathered to celebrate each others successes as well as support a good cause.
This year, UVSA brings back the Charity Gala to celebrate the bonds of friendship that have grown between the VSAs of Northern California. The Charity Gala, to be hosted on March 14 at the San Jose City Hall Rotunda, will feature local singers, VSA performers, talented dance groups, and most important of all, young activists from all around the Bay Area who want to make the lives of their brothers and sisters in Vietnam better.
We invite you to join us at our 2009 Charity Gala. The theme will be Niềm Tin & Hy Vọng (Faith and Hope). The funds from this years event will go towards supporting VietHope, a non-profit that helps poor children go to school in Vietnam. The money that we raise will help VietHope establish the Youth Development Program, a program that would require their scholarship recipients to learn practical skills and apply them by organizing community service projects that benefit their own neighborhoods. VietHopes project and mission provides strong support to the youth in Vietnam, who will be the ones to lead the country to a better future.
We are proud to be a part of the Collective Philanthropy Project (CPP), a campaign that unites VSAs in supporting a non-profit that is voted on every year at the annual uNAVSA Conference. We are also proud to be affiliated with the Union of North American Vietnamese Student Associations (uNAVSA), which is the national coalition of VSAs.
We are looking foward to seeing those ticket purchases sky-rocket!!! See everyone at the gala!!!!!
