I have been playing with the Novation ZeRO SL MkII for awhile and it is a very capable controller. Its rare that a controller allows me to do something new but ZeRO SL has done just this. Thanks to the LCD screen and Automap 3 for the first time I mastered a complete track in the box with my monitor turned off. While admittedly the first time round I wasn't as fast as with a mouse but eliminating the distraction of visual feedback forced me to focus more intensely on the audio at hand.

  • Hi!

    Nice Review!

What happens with the faders when using them for the mixer(Reason 6 in my case). If i switch between the mixer banks (1-8 ,9-16 etc) then obviously the fader wont move to its "software postion" as it is not motorized, so once i move the physical fader, will the level jump to where ever the actual physical fader sits on the Zero SL or do i have to move the fader past the software position(in Reason) to "catch" it before its affected?

    hope this makes sense....

    Cheers

  • @bruunm1975 Makes perfect sense. However I believe the behavior is set by the DAW not the controller and Reason I am not familiar with. I know in live you set it to scale, jump or catchup but again I am not in the know on Reason sorry.

  • Automap works with this correct? If so does it save the mapping preset?

  • @BIGCTV18 Yes sir

  • I'm planning to buy this midi controller to use it for live mixing in Reason 5 ,

would be too complicated to use for a beginner ? or I will be fine ?

Thank you for this professional review ;)

  • @Pl4sm0 You should be ok, be prepared to spend some time to get to know it well though. But hey that should be all part of the fun.

Dont worry you will be fine...

  • That's it, I am buying only a midi keyboard, all the rest will be controlled by my mouse, I just hate midi mapping.

  • you were awesome with the Scoobidoo resonance! hahahahaha!

  • is there a motor in the fadors

  • how do you select what channel's effects you are modifying ?

  • @TheDSPproject yes i officially love this even more the keyboard does the same as well
