This is Jack Owens, a star of "The Breakfast Club with Don McNeill," the longest running network radio show of all time.
In this video, he is singing two takes of his immensely popular "How Soon," which he wrote and recorded. It would make it to the #3 spot on the Pop charts in 1947. This video also features a cover by Martha Wainwright.
Jack Owens, the Cruising Crooner, was a popular singer and songwriter in the 1930's and 1940's, and he also had his own Emmy-nominated daytime TV show, "The Jack Owens Show" from about 1950-1955.
He started out with Tower Records then signed with Decca. His songs, including "How Soon" were covered by Vaughn Monroe, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, the Jacks/Cadets, Don Ho, and many others.
He was the uncle of Roger Owens, the Famous Peanut Man at Dodger Stadium, and uncle of self-taught piano man Paul Immanuel Owens.
