A new Mayo Clinic study found that patients with low-grade gliomas had the longest survival when they underwent aggressive surgeries to remove the entire tumor. When it was not possible to safely remove the entire tumor, patients had significantly improved survival when surgery was followed by radiation therapy.
Nadia Laack, M.D., a Mayo Clinic radiation oncologist and lead author of the study provides an overview.
