  • Hello Dr,

Isn't it the combination of fat and carbs in the same meal that causes diabetics in the long run?

i ve heard of high fat low car sucess stories and the exact oposite also.

wouldn't just spreading the intake help?

for ex not mixing bread and cheese

  • @rawfoodpowertraining No, mixing foods doesn't cause diabetes; otherwise there would have been an epidemic of diabetes hundreds of years ago and in many different cultures. Once the body is "broken" spreading the intake doesn't help either, since the body continues to overreact with insulin. People may or may not feel better not mixing foods, but often, in the beginning, people simply have to deal with carb intake first. It all depends on how "broken" their system is.

  • Just one nit to pick--your beef with Atkins is that it's unsustainable, but you seem to only be focusing on the Induction phase. The Atkins program includes other phases for lifetime maintenance, which I think are perfectly sustainable. I've been maintaining low-carb since 2003 and am very happy with it.

Thank you for these videos. I know a lot of people who need to see them.

  • @echobink Actually, I totally agree with you; it's mostly that people have this misperception that it's WAY low-carb, or that he eschews vegetables, which isn't correct. But that's all they remember, so that's what I'm speaking to. I only think people could eat more veggies, but other than that, I totally agree. Thanks for commenting! And congrats for doing so great!

  • Hi, Along with watching what I eat, do you think eating smaller meals 5-6 times a day is the way to go? Thank you.

  • @NobbyKNobbs Yes, eating every 3 hours is very helpful for keeping your blood sugar stable, which will prevent cravings. I talk about this in more detail in the 4th video, so let me know if that doesn't clear it up for you!

  • Well miss i have already managed to eat less carbs! I basically have extra added sugar in nothing! I havent eaten candy for 5 years and i always drink tea straight with non milk or sugar! I drink no soda, and add extra sweetness to nothing! my rule is drink it straight or do not drink it at all and the same for food! My system isnt trained for sweets anymore! Thank you

  • @alphacause - Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it! I typically eat eggs or bacon (!) or sausage in the morning, sometimes a piece of toast with butter and cheese on it (that's my comfort food!). Salads with nuts and cheese and maybe a few dried cranberries, spoonfuls of almond butter or vegetables with hummus, or a protein shake with tomato juice for snacks, and some protein and a veggie for dinner. Sometimes a glass of wine... lots of water and green tea during the day...
