One of the extreme maneuvres that show the agility of the X-31.
The thrust vectoring research results was implemented in many modern fighter aircraft.
I found this Video at the NASA X-31 home page.

Although not very well nown by the public he X-31 is a milestone of modern aviation

The X-31 doesn't carry any weapons. I have doubts that the Su can fly some of the maneuvres that the X-31 is capable of.

This AC was not designed to carry weapons of any kind. It outperformed all fighter aircraft in Dogfight testing but that was only to see if there is a tactical advantage from the extreme maneuverability of the delta-canard configuration. US military found it better to develop the F22 for better long range atacking ability and higher weapon load. Modern air to air fights are performed with amraams or other long range weapons and do not contain classic dog fight.

No OFFENCE but... for information that is only for USA... but for Russians dogfights will be dogfights... that is the reason why their fighter jets are build to do really hard maneuvers! I'm not Russian btw.. and the same thing was said by a US fighter Pilot... I saw it on one of the videos... :)

...The russian Fighter guide system was more ground based and the jets where more dependent on ground support by radar and guide systems (at least the older versions of the dogfight dominating dypes e.g. MIG29). They had also rockets which could attack air tagets and ground targets aswell. The Soviets had their own philosophy about the required abilitys of a fighter jet depending on their purpose. They also had long range interceptors without digfight ability as the MIG 25.

Wow you are an ignorant person. The SU and migs have the cobra manuever, The Mongoose kills cobras, thus calling that manuever the mongoose JFYI, The x31 is the most manueverable aircraft ever designed, more manueverable than the Su-37. Be open minded and not retarted, do your own research and come to an intelligent conclusion instead of a stupid unfounded comment like yours.

Ahem...you mean: Get directed to the enemy via radio from a ground radar station and in 40% of all cases ending miles away in a poor from your enemy because the ground intercept officer was reading the wrong numbers and then badly need the maneuverability to save the day? :D

No offence against the Soviet Dogfighting, there is a reason why Germans wanted something like that or better in the Eurofighter (incl. the IRIS-T and IRST)

I am a hardcore Su-37 fan, but I admit this awesome plane will outmaneuver the Su-37. Hopefully the next American Stealth Fighter Jet will have the paddle nozzle. And yes @TheSiddiqui008, I can't wait to see that beauty in flight too. Looks alot like the F-15

It looksalot like the Eurofighter, (copyed?) so it means that an eurofighter with thrust vector would be awesome

Just think, nothing Russia has in the air right now can compete with the F-22 and on top of that, the Northrop Switchblade may be coming soon.
