Time Lapse - Building a Garage Tent

I set my camera up to take a photo every 2 seconds for a few hours and recorded my mom and I building a garage tent that will be used this winter to park my car under to keep it out of the snow.

cool video man! exactly what I am going to be doing for myself. I have a 12x20x9 barn style I bought with 14oz fabric I cannot wait to setup.! I have a Casio ex-fh100 I plan to use for the time lapse and I was trying to figure out if I should use 10 sec or 2 sec. yours done at 2 sec looks great! how many pics did it take and how long did it take you to setup the garage? I have a 8GB card and on medium pic quality my camera says it can take 3341 pics. I am thinking thats like 2 hours worth

@Brians4x4Life I used my Canon PowerShot SD1000 that had a built-in time lapse mode that automatically converted the photos into a .MVI video file. I think it combined to 15 frames per second, so 2460 images total... so I think that comes out to an hour and 22 minutes.

@leslea001 make sure you use corkscrew-shaped tent steakes and not regular tent steakes! strong winds can rip regular steaks right out of the ground and your tent can blow away

@StalePhish ok great thanks for the reply. My camera does not have timelapse mode but I found out how to set it up to take continuous pictures so I am going to be doing that. take it easy.

one other question is how long do the pics display for in the timeline when you splice them all together when editing? what software did you use?

Ours looks identical to the one in the video and it was purchased at CostCo a few years ago.

Nice video. We have the same tent and have found that putting the cover on before any of the posts works well. We start placing the bungees at each peak and then work our way down and around.

I have two of these garages and they are great. But I haven't put them up in over 4 years and have no idea where the instructions are. Thank you so much for posting this. It sure helps me remember how the heck they go together. Great video!

Thanks for the tip. The stakes that came with it are all 3' long rebar. Also, given the spot I have in mind (in the driveway, which is gravel), I'm actually thinking on putting in concrete anchor points that I can bolt into. More secure even than rebar OR the corkscrew type stakes.

I only have the frame at this point & what I'm looking at doing is getting a clear option (tarp or maybe plexiglass) to turn it into a greenhouse, complete with water catchment system.
