This is my new enclosure. It's 8' long 3' deep and 4' tall. Tegus are almost a year old each now. They're both right under 30". I used some glass that I had left over and kind of fitted the cage to the dimensions of the glass. It was tempered glass so I wasn't able to get it cut. So right now ive only got about a foot on both sides to access the inside (which just aint cuttin it). I'm just waiting till I've got some $ to order the correct size panels.
I did some research on non toxic plants and found that the hibiscus isn't toxic and can stand up to pretty high temps. It's been in there for about a month and a half and is still kickin.
The cypress mulch I've got in there is about 6-8" deep.
Basking spot right at 100-115 degrees. Area temp on the other side of the enclosure stays about 80 degrees-ish. Heat emitter stays on 24/7.
Anyway, it came out pretty cool. Feel free to shoot me any questions.

  • that is a well cool tank m8 but at 4ft high and haveing the uv on the roof the uv will not reach the lizards as a 10.0 bulb only reachis about 24in

  • @krox2008

Thanks man. yea I actually know that the repti glow bulb isn't having much of an effect. I picked it up at a pet store on sale for $7.99 instead of the usual $20 or $30. So I just figured I'd stick it in there. Where the bulb is mounted and where the top of the mulch is has a distance of about 32". But I do take them outside quite often so they get their share of sunlight. Thanks for the comment

  • lol ur tegu kept trying to get out then at 5:01 its just like forget it i give up im going to bed lol :) i really like the cage

  • what is your humidity in the cage

  • where did you get the cypress mulch ?

  • are they all american tegu from varnyard

  • Haha I love how your tegu is like no im comeing out lol

  • One thing is for sure you wanna make sure you won't be moving any time soon after building something like that. I love tegus but all I have is a 150 gal aquarium that's only 6 ft by like 2 or 1 1/2 ft which is carrying cichlids atm. My landlord would freak out anyways If I had a giant lizard in my living room lol. Good video though I thought that I might be able to fit a blue tegu in my tank but now I know it ain't happening.

  • @CJELLIOTT666 hey man i dont have my tegu or sav any more but i still know about them and i saw u were wondering if that would last them there whole life and yea it will 8ft by 4ft can house two full tegus and if u just wanted one blue tegu u could keep them in a 6ft by 4ft if u wanted by why not go with the bigger one...ooo yea its cuz the blues are the smallest outta the tegus im pretty sure they max out at 3 or 3 1/2 feet females i belive are 3ft

  • what would be the cost of a single blue tegu and enclosure and lights and heating all together

  • i want a blue tegu but will that enclosure last his or her life or will u be moving him or her into a bigger enclosure

if it will last his or her life how much did it cost including lights and things the tegu needs
