After Hurdy joins the party, we finally get access to chocobos, one of the gimmicky things in FFTA2 that aren't awfully useful in a normal game but that are really good for our challenge. I wanted to catch a Green Chocobo because it has a move of 6 (moving two tiles further than anybody else in my team), and works a lot like a White Mage and I lack a good one, with skills that cure HP, status and cast Shell/Protect on up to five units at once (the rider itself and up to 4 adjacent people).
Hurdy himself can't mount a chocobo (neither can Montblanc, who won't be making an appearance in this challenge as we hire him postgame), but he comes to us with an instrument that teaches the Animist his 2nd active ability. Having the generic moogle learn it unlocks the Chocobo Rider class.
Catching a chocobo isn't very hard. First of all, the moogle about to mount the bird of choice must be a Chocobo Knight. The chocobo must be at critical health (and I've heard negative statuses inflicted on it will prevent you from being able to catch it), so weaker attacks like Screech and Roundhouse should be used not to do any more damage. The chocobo may make matters worse for us by casting Choco Cure on itself, but at least the green ones don't have Critical: Quicken.
Here's the list of chocobos and areas where they can be found, borrowed from GameFAQs:
Targ Woods Encounter - Yellow Chocobo
Kthili Sands Encounter - Red Chocobo
Galerria Deep Encounter - Black Chocobo
Zedlei Forest Encounter - Green Chocobo
Aldanna Range Encounter - Brown Chocobo
Rupie Mountains Encounter - White Chocobo
Goug Encounter - Random Chocobo
If the random battle doesn't pop up, it means you're not far in the storyline yet. Brown and Red Chocobos can't be hired at this point yet, as far as I know, so no Choco Meteo.
I will demonstrate the Green Chocobo Rider in the next video.
Chocobo Knight is pretty good, and I can see how a green one would be useful to you in this challenge. Also, what is the name of the song?

Ah, clever loophole of the challenge, You don't hire a chocobo, you capture it.

These big birds are a pain to keep under the moogle until Penelo eventually joins. If they get back-attacked twice, say 'goodbye' to your chocobo, Death/Doom applies to. And it's annoying to capture the same bird more than once.

So really, its a situational thing? Or do you need the White Magic that bad that you'll have to constantly seek these out?

Until cooler characters join the party, the green chocobo rider is a cool unit. Can equip the Sequencer (and I'm pretty sure the weapon equipped DOES matter even on a chocobo) and a bunch of other weapons that nobody else can equip, has a move of six and can support the party... It's just a cool thing to have.
I learnt to keep the choc away from damage and mostly act as support, sometimes finishing off far away enemies, and keeping the choc alive was no longer an issue. Offence choco is fail tho
