Rick was an extraordinary powerlifting coach. He knew exactly what it took to train his lifters, and held this unexplainable talent for remembering numbers for every single lifter, even when he had a team of over 40 guys and girls. But that is not why he will be remembered as the great man that he was.
Anyone who knew him saw how big Rick's heart was. Even while battling cancer, Rick gave everything he had to his team. Countless lifters could tell you stories of how Rick helped them do things they never dreamed possible. He breathed new life into his lifters, even as his own was slowly slipping away. Rick was a coach, friend, and mentor, and leaves behind a legacy in the sport of powerlifting and in the hearts of all of those who knew him.
May 21, 2011---He was a lot of things to many people and will be missed tremendously and Rick surely left an imprint in our memories. Our heartfelt condolences go out to all his friends and family. We love ya Rick! --Louis Barber and Theresa Tribble/Barber

I almost didn't make it past Styx; it made me feel sad. The clips of him coaching made me smile though. I never got to meet Rick, but I sure would have loved to.
