An attempt to explain the dark arts of rugby; competing at the breakdown. It's a gray area, no doubt, but hopefully these examples will clarify how to win turnovers.

  • thank you... as an american, i just recently gained interest but was confused about ruck and breakdowns... niw i understand turnovers... very informative... thanks...

  • all young aspiring rugby players should watch this, regardless of their position. theres some vital tips in here about the breakdown that need to be learnt early, and then practice, practice, practice.

  • very nice video. on thing I must say about the example between wales and england at 6:45 is recently in my games if people tackle a player but remain on their feet and go straight for the ball the tackler gets called for "not releasing". the ref wants us after making a tackle and remaining on our feet to lift or hands off the player BEFORE attempting to steal the ball. my question is, is this a new rule or just something my local refs have decided is best?

  • Nice video. Really nice.

  • great video i was breaking my back tryin to find if i could get possesion of the ball during a ruck and now i know how to keep it up. now i know what to do in my next rugby match

  • @HighlandRugby good post mate !

  • this just settled a dispute between my mates and I, thank you

  • ... not really ALL because of a turnover, most of it was to do with the fact that Habana is frigging rapid lol

  • This is really interesting, i cant understand why there is one dislike, you probably know nothing about rugby whoever you are.

  • heaps good video, good information. Keep Going!
