Mike Johnson and 15-year old Mike Preston deliver a encore yodeling performance of Hank Williams' "Jambalaya" [which incidentally is not a yodeling song] at the June 1994 Michigan Jamboree in Hillsdale, Michigan.
From age 12 to around age 17, Mike Preston was the hottest young yodeler in the New England states who had won virtually every award there was for his age group. And why not, considering his personal friend and mentor was Yodeling Slim Clark. Preston is currently in Nashville pursuing songwriting.
This video was shot by singer, songwriter Johnny "J" of Sparta, Michigan. He shot the entire weekend of performances, and has the distinct honor of having the title of his song "Puckerbrush" being adopted and incorporated as the official name of their town, Puckerbrush, Nevada.
Performing since the mid-1960s, Mike Johnson' Yodel Song Archives, containing 114 yodeling songs written & composed by him, are now part of the Library of Congress' Recorded Sound Reference Center's permanent music collection.
