Cortez The Killer, recorded at the Lovedart Lounge on February 9th, 2008. Johnny Lovedart had just returned from Mardi Gras in New Orleans when he decided to have a small get-together for those of us who couldn't make it to the Big Easy with him. We feasted on some of John's world-renowned vittles, and then settled back for a nice jam session. No fancy lights. No big PA. No roadies.. Just good pure acoustic jammin' from the soul. My son, Eric Jr. lead this particular tune, and we traded lead vox, Mathews-style. Jeff Snell was laying down a sweet bass line, and the ailing Chris Smith arpeggiated in the background. Mikey D. was playing along on his harmonica. We recorded part of the jam on a couple of mini DV video cams. This song stuck out, so I mixed the audio from the cameras and here it is. This is what it is like to hang out with musicians on a rare Saturday night off!! Mikey D. says it all at the end.. "It's such a great thing to have friends." Hope you enjoy!
