Cat acts like a kid who won't eat all of his food

Okay, so my cat pwnd me... Almost every night, my cat Gandalf and I have a standoff about whether he will eat his leftover food from earlier in the day before I refill his bowl with fresh kibble. He was doing so well at our new routine that I decided to record it: he would meow at me until I walked over to his bowl, I'd swirl the leftovers around and stare at him and tell him to finish his food, he'd bow his head and eat it like a little kid who wanted dessert, then I'd refill his bowl. However, when the camera came out he was not a good kitty!

Cats always leaves food so they can show you that there isn't much left, at least in my experience.
