I visited the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Leptis Magna in Libya in November 2004. This was one of the great cities of the Roman world.

Not only Carthage was beaten, but also Greece and all the kingdoms that had been created after the conquests of Alexander.....Egypt included. Only the Persian Empire was able to resist.. .

And finally the Roman Empire itself was brought to fall. Stat Roma (vel rosa) pristina nomine, nomina nuda tenemus.

@AnonymousWhitePerson Yes, I know that. But I mean, Carthage was cruelly knocked down...and turned to the Roman province of Africa. Modern historians have the duty to evaluate ancient Civilizations from an objective point of view. I think that Carthage was no way worse than Rome...but Rome was more powerful from the military point of view. It goes the same today:(

The ancient arid Roman Province of Africa Proconsularis, where Leptis Magna is found, was consolidated after the stolid beleagured defeat of Carthage.
