This was the Carlsbad Raceway round of the Trans-AMA Motocross series in 1972. The race took place at Carlsbad Raceway outside of Carlsbad, CA. I was there with my handy 8mm camera taking grainy, out of focus home movies. I'd have used HiDef video but it would not be available for another 35 years or so. I only shot one roll of film, that's all I had money for. I did get to see Roger DeCoster, Joel Robert, Ake Jonson, and all the other European greats of the time race against the up and coming Americans. Carlsbad was an amazing track, especially the famous downhill.
*Update: A correction to the info in the video, 1972 was NOT the US round of the FIM Motocross World Championship series. This was the Trans-AMA series which let to an official US round of the world championship series in 1973.
Really very genuine motocross. 8mm from the past era into the cyberspace, that's cool. Thanx for sharing it with us! J/Sweden
