A prototype for an interactive projector-camera system. developed as a semester project by Andrea Melle and Francesca Frassanito @ Eurecom Institute 2011.

The system couples a mini projector and a web camera to augment an ordinary piece of paper with projected information retrieved from the web.

The main features of the system are:

1. Detect a paper sheet in a scene and track its pose over time

2. Recognize a logo printed on the paper sheet among a set of given logos subdivided in two groups: newspaper logos and TV channels logos.

3. Ability to retrieve from the internet up to date content based on the recognized logo

4. Project the content on the paper sheet with the correct perspective distortion, in such a way the content itself looks like printed on the paper

5. Offer to the user some basic interactivity using the fingertip to browse the content

A general use of this system could be in a living room environment. The projector and the camera could be mounted together on a lamp and the system could activate itself when someone is sitting on a armchair with a paper sheet in his hands. The user could browse between different channels just by swapping paper sheets with different printed logos.
