my dad, Slava Chekin, was TV and movie director. He filmed almost all Svyatoslav Richter's "December Evenings' festivals for TV, made several jazz movies and one musical. His best film is 'Vladimir Tarasov's 634 bars' based on the well-known Lithuanian drummer's opus 'ATTO IV'. He was the author and presenter (beside directing) of the first Russian TV jazz show 'Jazz Time'.

My dad died in DecemBer'91 in London making film for Mstislav Rostropovich.

For now days his most popular movie is musical fairy tale "About а cat..." (1985)

this is part of the memorial evening (January 22, 2008) and a slide show that I did specially for it. For this clip I used music by Moscow's Air Jazz band.
