This occurred no where near a border. According to Constitution we have a right to remain silent, meaning that we DO NOT have to answer questions.
Police have no authority to approach anyone without PROBABLE CAUSE means that there must evidence that subject has committed a crime.
Police have no authority to detain anyone except by placing them under arrest, MEANS MAKING A SPECIFIC CHARGE OF A CRIME.
Pastor Anderson just wanted to leave, but was not allowed to do so.
They tortured him for refusing to answer questions, though he had a right to remain silent making it quite clear that he never had a duty to answer questions. HE ALREADY KNEW that he had a right to remain silent, & he did so.
Stormtroopers claimed that a DOG gave them "probable cause", & then they claimed that "probable cause" gave them the right to search. "Probable cause" is not a right to search. "Probable cause" is a right to ASK a judge for a search warrant:

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, & no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, & particularly describing the place to be searched, & the persons or things to be seized."
Without a CHARGE there is no arrest. One cannot resist arrest while not under arrest. There can be no search without a warrant. There can be no warrant without probable cause. There is no probable cause without Oath or affirmation. Did the dog give an Oath or affirmation? Since they found nothing in the car, did they not prove that the dog is not a reliable informer?
The question is whether the POLICE will obey the law. If POLICE have nothing to hide they will not have a problem with respecting the BILL OF RIGHTS. And they should not be asking for permission to violate the highest law in the land. What would they do if someone ASKED THEM for permission to violate the law? Allowing police to violate the BILL OF RIGHTS is stepping onto a slippery slope. How can law enforcement uphold the law if they violate the law?
Just doing their jobs? Their job is their OATH to support & defend the CONSTITUTION. At Nuremberg thugs said they were just doing their jobs. How did that work? Watch the video of them on slabs with nooses still around their necks.
Not legally arrested because they never charged him with committing any crime. They beat him up for not waiving his constitutional rights. Not answering questions is one of those constitutional rights. If they HAD arrested him they would have had to advise him of his right to remain silent. That would have been strange: beat him up for remaining silent, & then advise him that it was his right to remain silent?
He won in court. Not guilty all charges.
Accepting the assertion that the dog alerted, when there was nothing found, would be abolishing the use of these dogs for asserting probable cause, as they had been proven to be unreliable.
Police caught lying: told Pastor Anderson that he could have gone if he had answered their questions, after they had assaulted him supposedly because the dog had given probable cause to search.
Tyrants need stormtroopers while they are accumulating power. Tyrants usually kill them later. But whoever the tyrant allows to survive, still meets justice after the tyrant falls. Watch:

Only real effect of these "check points" is to condition the American people to accept the standard practices of tyranny, & to destroy the Bill of Rights. A law that violates the constitution has no authority as much as if it never existed. Pastor Anderson has now been found NOT GUILTY of all of silly charges.
