@xXturbo86Xx the real issue is with cooling the tires, the biggest benefit of slick tires (arguably) is the heat dissipation that allows for softer compounds. Stock cars can barely handle rain tires on a road course because of the massive weight, but couple the higher speeds, the massive side loads and the downward load, and it makes it impossible. wipers? no need at 200 mph. windows? they have them. headlights and taillights? not needed in other rain racing, such as Formula One.

@cpcomedy314 its impossible to run under rain on an oval circuit with banked turns. the rain slides down the track very fast. even with rain tires the cars wouldnt be able to stay on the track. especialy those heavy nascar racers.
there's a big difference between driving over static water and driving over water than runs down fast from the side.and impossible and very dangerous. plus, to race under rain you need headlights and taillights, wipers and windows.

@gordonfan190 Agreed. I think that all teams should be given 3 pairs of rain tires at the '500.

The finish to this race would have been awesome if it kept running, regardless of the rain.
