Greetings from US TzuChi 360, I'm Kalimah Priforce. In the next coming weeks we'll be covering a recent crisis in Haiti. On January 12th at 4:53pm East Standard Time, a devastating earthquake struck my home country and the birthplace of my parents, Haiti, a mostly french-speaking country that is both Latin-American and Caribbean. In what lasted just 35 seconds, an estimated three million people were affected, one million are homeless, and sadly, over 200,000 are dead. Eight days after this devastation, TzuChi volunteers arrived in Port-Au-Prince. Since then, volunteers have been on the ground in Haiti for 53 days and 2 months after the earthquake, we still feel the sorrow and pain for the Haitian people, won't abandon them during their hour of great need.
