If you were going to make your own music video of this song, then I would say that the little mermaid was not a good choice. But that's not what you were doing... you were creating a slideshow. So I think the little mermaid idea is a nice one =)

I like switchfoot, the little mermaid was the only disney princessy sort of character I ever liked, and I know I couldn't make a video if I wanted to XD

this is so dumb. it looks like u just got a bunch of pics from Google and put it all together with underwater. and its especially stupid with the little mermaid in it. i mean come on the little mermaid??? of all things???

Yeah The Little Mermaid and this song don't appear to have anything in common on the surface, but this song is a metaphor about how alcoholism and/or addiction (or almost any other serious real life situation ) can be similar to drowning. Your stuck, and you feel like you're going to die if can't get out, hence drowning underwater. This video is perfectly fitting because Ariel felt so stuck and trapped in her home "Underwater"! Geez, how can you guys not see the comparison?

@adiostraitorobama Well I guess I should go make a tribute video of that guy from Spongebob Squarepants who screams, "MY LEEEGGG!!!!!!" to this song because he's "underwater" and "no one down there gets to know his name." Eh?

@adiostraitorobama alright, but still -- why compare Ariel, a Disney princess, to an alcoholic? I love Switchfoot and all of their music, but I just don't agree with this video. Sure, they both talk about being underwater, but besides that the two stories are practically opposites.

Ummmm.... isn't this song about a girl who drowned herself? It says, "Now she's upside down. Now she's six feet down." I don't think that you really thought this song out before you made the video :/
