Motorcycling Australia (MA) have confirmed that JDR Motorsports KTM rider Andrew McFarlane was involved in a critical on-track incident at the third round of the 2010 Australian Motocross Championship at Broadford on Sunday 2 May and has passed away.

McFarlane received immediate treatment from medical staff at the track but he passed away due to his injuries.

Andrew McFarlane was a former Australian Motocross and Supercross Champion. He also finished second in the World Motocross Championship. MacFarlane had recently returned from racing in America to race the Australian scene before retiring.

Andrew McFarlane is survived by his wife Natalie and young daughter.

he died doing the thing he loved, and like all of us he knew the risk we take every time we throw our leg over the seat, he was a true inspiration and will be for ever missed, and never forgotten, he will forever ride in heaven, forever remain in our hearts, my thoughts and wishes are with his family and friends,
