The first annual Queen City Shootout at Whisky River Texas Hold Em Tournament, held on October 14th at EpiCentre was a resounding success, with net proceeds over $80,000 benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation Central & Western North Carolina Chapter.
The first place prize went to Joshua Mitchell as he successfully outlasted all 300 competitors and
remained the last player standing to claim his bounty of a paid seat at the 2010 World Series of Poker
Main Event in Las Vegas. Second place was awarded to Tarek Aoun. The evening was filled with laughter, good cheer and friendly competition as participants and spectators streamed into Whisky River to compete and witness Charlottes largest organized Texas Hold Em charity tournament in the citys history. Celebrities and participants mixed and mingled with one another as the evening progressed and those players eliminated throughout the competition stuck around for support
and encouragement to the remaining contestants.
The Basara Company and Felix Sabates Mercedes-Benz of South Charlotte would like to thank all of the sponsors, media outlets and volunteers who donated their time and effort to promulgate the event and work the trenches to make it a success.
Video production and post production services were done by Compass Media Productions under the direction of Steven Huff, Executive Producer.
