Very cool! I think many people often forget or tend to overlook the fact that Isaac Hayes was an American composer/song writer and should sit right up there with Girshwin and why not? He was a true original and captured the vibe of a nation. Great post! Peace. : )

The Theme from Shaft didn't just capture the mood and energy of the world (forget America), it rocketed music into the statosphere and to a place way ahead of its time. There had never before been anything so completely breath-taking, exhilirarating and beautiful. I still can't figure how this guy conceived and produced such a masterpiece. He was a musical genius like the world had not seen since the days of the great classical composers. I deplore the way music has gone ever since.
