Vitaly Makukin @ 2nd Bangkok Guitar Fiesta 2012

Vitaly Makukin was born in Ukraine in 1975. He was only 4 when he started his career as a musician, playing piano. His first guitar was offered to Vitaly when he was 10 years old. But it was only two years later that he understood that this instrument will help him to express himself best. He was around 24 when he tried to play the "Tapping" style. Today, he masters this method perfectly and makes Vitaly one of the great virtuosos of the guitar.

Tapping: This specific way of playing the guitar is particularly difficult for any musician, especially on a professional level. There is nothing in common with the traditional way of playing the guitar. In fact, it is closer to piano playing than to the traditional guitar playing. For instance, the hand's position is reversed, the right hand playing the G note and the left one playing F. This applies also for the fingers. The way Vitaly plays is totally unusual, and makes even the most accomplished guitar players wonder how he does it!...It is hard to believe and his virtuosity is simply amazing.

Guitars: Until LAG offered him to play on an electro acoustic guitar Vitaly has mainly played on electric guitars. The change to the LAG guitar was so significant to Vitaly that he decided to continue playing on acoustic guitar. He since plays on LAG, MATON, COLE CLARK and PATRICK EGGLE guitars. Since it became obvious that the strings are not vibrating the same way due to Vitaly's unique technic, Patrick took the challenge to build Vitaly a special Tapping guitar. The result is great!
