As promised, here's a quick guide on how I currently prepare my videos for upload to youtube. This should help anybody encountering problems with codecs that are not preferred by youtube, or for those that like to know an easy way to get full hour length videos at 720p onto youtube without exceding the 2gb filesize limit.

  • I'm getting

swScaler: Unknown format is not supported as input pixel format

    when attempting to convert.

  • @Grifflester what type of video is the source footage? if it's some strange camera format, it might be the reason why it doesn't recognize it. I'm unsure if WinFF uses internal decoders or if installing the codec for your format could fix it.

  • @nGAGE0nline I used dxtory to record gameplay. using a special dxtory codec.

  • @Grifflester I'm unfamiliar with this tool and codec. It's too bad that the format doesn't seem to be supported. Only solution I could think of, is to first try to encode it with VirtualDub using some of the many lossless codecs. But if you already have to do it another way, I don't see the point in doing two encodes just to use this method unless you have the time and like the outcome. You should be able to get a very similar result with VirtualDub outputting into AVI with the 'x264vfw' codec.

  • 3.5 mega bits u mean?

  • @tyga42 yeah, but you can read, as most people do, so I guess they know what I meant :P
