As a volunteer of the Friends of the 4449 I had the honor of getting a cabride from Wishram to Portland on July 2nd. As you can tell it's very shakey at the begining, you have to remember this was built in the 40's it's a rough ride, but it's an AWSOME ride! It's true what they say, you get what you put into it, if you are serious about giving your time and dedication to a cause, you will benefit from it in the long run. It only makes me more driven to work harder for the 4449. Enjoy!

  • Getting to ride in the cab of a legendary steam locomotive is a rare sensation within itself. As per other comments on this video, keeping history alive is one of the greatest acts possible, and yeah, I wish there were more steamers in full running order today.

  • @ecoRfan @HaloCE14 Well growing up on the old SP Coast line the 4449 was part of the nostalgia there, and finally being able to live in Portland and come and work on this engine and actually ride in it in return for all the hard work is really just a dream come true and I will keep doing it, even if it means staying up 24+ hours "been done already plenty of times" If it keeps it running, I'll do it again.

  • Love the sounds, great video..

  • Truly awesome. I really enjoyed my cab ride in the MRSRR Polson Logging #70. The 4449 would be one of the toppers to that experience. Thank you for sharing!

  • people need to remember these machines were built to go from point a to b at over 90mph, if they were allowed I'm sure they still would
