E1M8 Part 1: Lead guitar instruction by Sonic Clang. Part 2 will cover the rhythm guitar parts. I recorded with two cameras for over 45 minutes, so I had quite of video to edit to get this done. It took me 45 minutes because I kept screwing up what I was saying... I'm not an actor :)

  • dude have you tried playin it with stander tuning and playin it on one sting ?

    like the firts part

    B: 8 8 6 4 8 ( with the same bends on the first one )

    B; 8 6 13 6 8

    6 6 13 16 13

n you the same for the rest without juming strings

  • @abodyzee87 Absolutely, yes, you could play this with standard tuning. In hind sight I should have done this video that way, but I was planning on doing a pt1 and pt2 thing with the rhythm part coming second. But I never made that because I just ran out of time to do stuff like this.

Having said that, playing it on one string would be crap. There's a reason there are 6 of them. An A on the low E string sounds totally different than it does on the A string.

  • @sonicclang Wouldn't it have been even more logical to teach this in Drop C tuning rather than having a weird mix of string tunings?

  • @thetoobnoob Yes, that would have been logical, except I was planning on doing part 2 immediately after this but didn't get around to it. Part 2 was going to be the rhythm guitars. This is the way you would tune if you wanted to play it in a band. Or just tune however you want and figure it out however you want.

  • Why are so many people not using the real names of the doom songs? This one's actually called 'The sign of evil' instead of E1M8.

  • I've explained this a hundred times. When we were making the mod, a group of guys were remaking the levels and I was remaking the songs. When you're trying to keep things organized, what do you think is less confusing?

Level "E1M1" goes with song "E1M1".

    Or...

Level "Hangar" goes with song "At Doom's Gate".

Now, multiply that by 9 (the number of levels we remade), and you can start to see why I never bothered learning the song names. It doesn't matter, it's a game, not an album.

  • old video i know, but i love the sound you're getting when playing these. Coming acrossed these made me learn some of my fav doom songs.

  • 240p :(

  • just tune to d standard dgcfad and drop the low d to c and play the shit two frets higher on the lead stuff then if your playing with a floyed you dont have to fuck with everything on your guitar

  • So it's cgc but wots the standard tuning

  • I want part 2 so bad if I'd knew were you live i would kid nap you.

  • It will be nice to convince Carmack or ID creative directors to include this masterpiece in the Doom4 Game.

  • Your E1M3 is also fabulous! Probably my very favorite

  • 10 people still have nightmares from playing DOOM Episode 1 Level 8.

  • Sounds creepy. I love it!
