Do you live on the moon or something??? iv been doing ITF and WTF my whole life, and wtf was always the faggish one. i dont care what you think but when i go to ITF tournaments everyone hits full contact and knocks out come and go.

Now if you live in the STATES thats a diffrent story.... america has ruined TKD.

WTF and ITF have some big and lots of little differences, mainly WTF cant use hand while sparring and wear chest protectors, ITF is simullar to kickboxing as in the equiptment they wear and the rules, they can use hands and legs.

karate tend to use shit loads of hand techniques, and can be very quick using them but their legs are pretty bad compared to TKD. i'd say karate is more accurate with their hands and tkd with their legs, just because thats wat they train in most.

After many years in WTF I went to Kyokushinkai karate. From my experience I say WTF TKD is "one-way full contact sport". I mean you are not supposed to be kicked, but to attack or counter an attack. Muscles are simply not used to be stressed. In this video that low kick in 4:48 paralyzed TKD fighter, luckily for him other guy didn't realize that ;) WTF is Olympic sport, not deadly martial art, I love it for sophisticated techniques but more for great sport spirit that it builds in people! Stop judging the art of WTF TKD by its sports counterpart. If you look at the martial art itself, they have just as much focus on hand techniques as other marital arts do, including ITF. It's the sports sector of WTF that encourages kicking through prohibiting punches to the head, not because "WTF doesn't use hands." At least know what you're talking about before babbling on and on. I'm 4th degree Black in both WTF and ITF.

dudes...i dont care if TKD was started by karate or kung fu or something else...i saw that after many years,TKD was become very popular to the world...why?i saw that TKD become a modern martial art that fit to the modern way of life all over the world!!In a defence outside the streets is very effective against the opponent(ITF TKD)..ITF seems to me a complete martial art with hands and legs...and dont forget,in streets we wear clothes that someone can make difficult many moves!

Let's make this clear once and for all.

Punches are allowed to the chest in WTF, they score points. WTF has the same kicks ITF has plus some different ones.

ITF are using power, WTF are using speed and distance.
