Please click on the "720p HD" option then the fullscreen icon.

This is one of my "Then and Now" photographs created as a video using the new HD option now available on YouTube. This allows widescreen high quality playback but please click on the "720p HD" link at the bottom of the video then click the Fullscreen icon otherwise you won't see the quality.
It should have a horizontal screen resolution of at least 1280 pixels otherwise you are not seeing all the image pixels.

I've managed to show the presentation in a different way here, because my NOW image was at a much wider angle, it encompassed more than the 1981 view. This meant it was possible to zoom and pan out within the show. To do this I had to make a note of the crop points relating to the 1981 fade point in Sony Vegas 8 .

Then and now Description :
The initial view you see is of the Oast House pub (Derby South Premier Inn) on the corner of Sinfin Lane and Osmaston Park Road.
This will then fade to the exact same view that would have been seen in August 1981. I then fade this view back and forth a few times so you can see the changes that have taken place in 28 years.

I would like to thank Chris Harris for the use of his 1981 photograph of Normanton Barracks.
The Now photograph was taken by me on 11th January 2009.

Did you spot the red Santa hat in the 2009 photo?

  • You always create some of the cleverest videos on YouTube. And the coolest soundtracks to go with 'em.

    Good show, mate!

  • thanks glad you like em. The music on this one is actually created using Sony Cinescore, i.e. Computer generated Royalty Free music.
