Sis. Ashley. That's true. This is why the Quran is the only religious scripture that mentions and emphasises the marriage of "only one", if men cannot do justice between 4. But what Islam did do, in a highly polygamous society, Arabia (and the world in general), was regulate polygamy. Put a cap on it at 4, which is so wise. Believe me the husbands I've spoken to are satisfied with one wife and wouldn't have another! Glad you benefited from his lecture. May God guide you and I.

it is not what you think. it is prevent men committing adultery. one of the main reason for allowing four wife is a man can marry a widow, orfan or some one who is not s o pretty and not getting any marriage proposal. if man marries just use the lady as tissue paper he has answer Allah for that.

This was great and so true no matter what your religion is. I will probably get hate mail for saying this....but because men have a natural 'instinct' to 'hunt' (as in women) the fact that muslim men are allowed 4 wives and in many cases if they want another after they already have 4 they will just find a 'reason' to divorce one, they continually chase women and once they have 'caught' one they will lose interest in her and go on to 'prey' on another woman. Monogamy is GOOD for the family.
