Totally against cruelty to animals, regardless of native or not. But am 100% behind NZ ecoystems and wildlife. With Possums, stoats and rats esp we will lose our ecosystem forever unless we control them/ wipe them out. Its a decision of Welfare versus ecosystem. Trapping is fine but there is no way trappers can protect the whole of NZ, no way.

Also these guys are brothers and have been found fixing their findings, dropping 1080 in water tanks and mocking deaths etc. I wouldn't trust them.

There are no "tanks", or fixing. If your claims are true, sue us!!! Koura are poisoned in ALL aerial poison drops, where cereal bait is used. The pricipal is simple...don't drop attractive food from helicopters, laced with poison, into a forest and claim to only kill possums. It's simply not possible. Open you eyes, and your mind, and watch Poisoning Paradise the documentary, and witness the truth! We are not against responsible pest control - but we are certainly against irresponsible ecocide!

I agree NZ needs its export market. At the moment our meat is not tested for 1080 residues I believe this is something that importing coutnries will demand in the future. How can we gaurantee 1080 is not already in our food chain. Once international interest in NZ's use of 1080 happens our countrys exports will be over. Once 1080 kills all our natural wildlife and poisons our country our tourist indusry will also be over! Yes it will be sad but it will not be the threat of TB that does it!

1080 kills possums, weasels and stoats. These introduced pests (introduced to create a local trapping industry) directly and indirectly are responsible for severely reducing or wiping out our precious unique native birdlife.

We can always reintroduce deer from overseas, we can never reintroduce native birds.

These guys show a lot of concern for deer killed by 1080. The reason they are concerned is that they want to kill the deer with their guns, and are upset that 1080 has beaten them to it.

The fact is, if we can eradicate possums from NZ, then we won't need to use 1080 anymore.

@hayder1976 Not sure where you're from but in NZ it is open season on pretty much all game, pretty much all year round. Deer (7 species), tahr, chamois, goats, pigs plus any other introduced mammal are on the menu right now.

open season on pest animals .... you'll have plenty of hunters who would love to practice the sport during off-season of game animals ... and this way, hunters would spend money on ammunition and supplies, pests are controlled ... win-win situation

At this point 1080 seems to be the only efficient option to protect the native wildlife of NZ, therefore you have to chose to either; protect the native wildlife and kill non-native wildlife in a cruel manner OR try to protect wildlife as best you can and kill non-native wildlife in a humane manner. In my opinion the best bet to retain NZ biodiversity and save the endangered species is 2 use 1080. I would be open to other options which are just as efficient. Unfortunately I have not heard of any

at least the deer make the forest accessible if all the deer were killed you wouldn't even be able to walk in and see all the birds and bloody kiwis which is the reason for all the poison in the first place DOC are so stupid!!!!!
