  • Your documentary's great, thank you !

I really think that the B3's much better and less expensive for the customer for any work up to 2500-3000 m. It is faster, more powerful, less noisy and less greedy of kerosen. A good pilot can do much more with a B3 than with a Lama. If you was in Arbaz during the fire last year, you know what I'm talking about..!

Keep doing good job dear makilajj, cheers !

  • You're absolutely right, but under the condition that the wind is not too strong...

Many thanks for your kind comments and CU perhaps in flight one day... Who knows?

  • I tried to write you back concerning bernd but then my computer broke down and then I was too azy to write it again so lets just forget that.

It's such a shame, that they stopped building the lamas. Have you heard of that stupid rule where Rescue Helicopters in Switzerland need to have 2 turbines?

Totally useless if you ask me!!!

  • Absolutely true!

These rules were made by clerks in an office at Brussels. They probably think that the flight conditions are the same in the Alps and on the North See...

Of course we need powerfull machines, let's bet that the Lama will still be used at higher altitude when the wind conditions are difficult!

  • best Helicopter ever built: The Lama!!!

  • This time I agree with you :-)

  • Maybe someone should take the Arriel 2B engine, and rotor head from the B3, and mod it on to the Lama?? would make a hell of a machine.

  • The mere fact that people still can't decide which is better, a very modern AS350B3, or the SA315b which was built in the 60s, proves how awesome the LAMA is!

  • lama all the way i've always felt safer for some reason, and for seismic, i've never seen one faster than a lama, we can pick more you can fly faster, b3 wont pick up a drill

  • Thank You Makila for your chanel.

Yes The lama will stay in our hearts forever, I started to fly long lines with it and I will personaly always regret it for the basic pleasure of flight and sight.

Yes this is the end, the B3 is all over the place today, even in tropical countries where i work now. Regarding the visibility problem or the B3, we just fly without the right door (110kts max) with a floor window..In seismic, B3 does twice faster than Lama, it is also safer regarding vortex hazards

  • Great

    Thanks

  • Hi Makilajj !

If you check the link I just sent you ( I can't put it on YouTube ) you'll see that Pascal Brun changed opinion about the building site of Vallot...

In a few words : Altitude 4362 meters, load of 720 Kg and wind of 40 kts. Helicopter : AS 350 B3. This time it's obvious, the Lama's era ends...

  • grande pilota si vede

  • I still think, that it's non-sense, From my side the EC wasn't a good bargain anyway (at least they got a b3 now). Swiching helicopters for a 5-10 minutes flight?! Come on...(I know that they have winches on the lama by the way...)

  • If, for exemple, the EC-135 of Air Zermatt waits in Schwarzee after a rescue with a Lama in the north face of the Matterhorn it makes sense, no ? They directly drop the patient with the winch (Air-Zermatt uses Lama with winches) just a side the bi-turbine and it's done ! I think that difficult rescues will be like that for the next 20 years...!! The JAR-OPS won't change that...

  • Of course there will be exceptions but for example in Zermatt, where I live, there isn't much sense in flying from for example the matterhorn to the heliport and then to the hospital in visp or brig. I only takes about 5 minutes anyway.
