Pagoda is the English language term for a tiered tower with multiple eaves. Common throughout eastern Asia, most pagodas were built to serve a religious function. The Pagoda Knot was created in admiration of this sacred architecture.

  • Interesting knot! I'm getting married in a couple of months at a Pagoda, so I'd like to use it. What is the best sort of rope to buy to practise with?

  • I tend to use 1/4 inch solid braid nylon to practice my knots.

But really... Any size will do.

  • I am interested in Japanese knots as used in Armour and temple I am looking for the one used at the back of the armour which has three loops and is used to secure the shoulder guards down

  • My keets and I loved your instructional video on how to englishly tie the pagoda knot,

I admit at first it looks complex, but you quickly get an idea of the mediation; that being a piece of string with Euphoric chills spindling throughout space. What is truly amazing, is I can hardly do it. Only with origami effort can I possibly. Maybe you can mend my green aphgan.

  • muy elegante tus videos, desde Colombia un saludo.

  • Educational, but what is the knot used for?

  • Very nice knot. It looks like it is tied just like the Trinity Knot, but with an extra loop. The extra loop gives the finished knot a square shape rather than a triangular one.

  • JD I love your videos and they are the best I found. When you come to Calgary or Edmonton just let me know. I would love to go see a show of yours. I am right into knots.

  • Now that is a square knot...just look at it.

  • WOOOOW, thank you JD.
