@flusispieler Some of the CSA IL-62s are still around. UP-16209 of Deta Air (Kazahkstan) is an ex-CSA plane. She was built originally for Aeroflot in 1981 (as CCCP-86518) and has been with Deta Air since Sep 2008 and still has the same basic colour scheme as was used by CSA.

Adoro este avião. Gostava de o ter no meu simulator de voo FSX mas não consigo encontra-lo !! I love this aircraft and I like to have it in my Flight Simulator but ...i can't find it!

An amazing aicraft. Long years ago Hungarian Airlines MALÉV had operated IL-62 too. Unfortunatelly, I've never seen an IL-62 :(

My father was an avionics engineer and ended up his active career on this aircraft. I must agree that was a wonderfull plane despite the fact it had bad engines...
-
@av21031 Some of the engines are expected to reach 18000 hrs or 3800 cycles and this is a total time of use after which engines need to be replaced with new ones. Original time between overhauls was given as 3600 or 5000hrs(depending on engine)/905 cycles for engine without reverse and 3000hrs/543 cycles for engines with thrust reverse. Apparently engine manufacturer introduced some improvements and time between overhauls was extended to 6000hrs.

No plane is perfect - they all have faults but to me the IL-62 is the most elegant airliner and its streamlining is partly why it is so incredibly stable in flight. It requires more maintenance than new planes but also makes them look ordinary when you see them side by side. It was a shame to see Interflug's UP-I6208 end as she did. She had seen the fall of the Berlin wall & Interflug, went back to fly for Russia, then for Uzbekistan, then for Iran before the overrun & collison at Mashhad.
