The HD500 had some software issues that bugged me. It was unreliable in a live setting; I had no sound on 3 occasions. Apart from that, I found that the buttons were too close to eachother and to the protective bars, which made me miss a switch every now and then. All in all, not a happy marriage between me and the HD500.
I prefer the Nova over the DD-20 due to the increased number of presets.
