The male cooper's hawk typically hunts and gives the pray to the female. The first photograph shows the male handing-off the killed prey. The female then took off and settled on top of a wooden pole, where she quickly ate the prey. This series of photographs where taken in a back yard in San Francisco, California.

  • Nice pics, looks like a juvienile ,by the marks on it's chest. Is that a pole trap directly under it on that pole?

  • Thx! It's an old pole with a rusted clothes line pulley in my back yard.
