One of Sorabji's four Nocturnes, Djami, recorded by Michael Habermann. This is the premiere recording and is now out of print as far as I know; personally, I strongly prefer this over Jonathan Powell's, who also recorded this piece. Later on I'll be uploading Sorabji's Solo Piano Concerto if enough people find this sufficiently interesting. Until then, just enjoy one of the more... how to say... "immediately gratifying" works of Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji.

  • John11inch, you say: "Later on I'll be uploading Sorabji's Solo Piano Concerto if enough people find this sufficiently interesting"... I am very interested, please upload!!! thank you for posting this.. just love it!. So hard piano pieces to play them by the way...

  • I already uploaded it... a couple months ago o.o;

  • Great compostion by Mr. Sorabji! Thanks for uploading. You should do Gulistan as well.

  • Why? Everyone's heard it a million times.

  • @John11inch Not the millions of youtube searchers: All youtube has to offer is one of Sorabji playing it himself, and it is very low quality.

  • @searchfgold6789

    That may now be the case, but it was not previously.

  • Sorabji, a god of past music... simply magnificent and ethereal. His music

    touches the highest peaks of expressionism.

  • Thank you for having posted this piece. I know many Sorabji pieces, but not this one;it´s truly beautiful.

  • this is not out of print. look for Sorabji: Legendary works on Amazon.

  • Sorabji is really starting to grow on me, loving his synphonic variations (specially parts 1 - 3 ) . This is great too!!

  • Absolutely beautiful..... a great "parter" to Le Jardin Parfumé

  • Haberman to this day is the only person who seems to be able to put sorabji into an emotional context for me.

  • "...immediately gratifying..." I love this guy John!!Inch

  • whos playing? I am. I have the sheet music. But I can also upload Madges recording if you want.
