In this tutorial I show how you can model a high polygon tire tread in Maya... it's 5 videos goin' from poly modeling over a simple UV layout and finally taking a bump map to put it on the tire.

Any comments or critiques are very welcome!

If you have any problems just contact me and I try to help you out :-)

cheers

Stephan

  • what would be a good texture to use for this?

  • @sircharlesgraham

If you want to have a clean "new" tyre you could take the mia_material_x rubber preset :-)

  • hi, I follow you step by step 3, 4 times to bump and texture my tire, but for some reason it doesnt show anything when I click on render, it shows as it is... help/

    Thanks for tutorial!

  • @ekajnabee95

if you send me your scene file (pilz@t-online.de) I'll check that out :-)

  • Note: in photoshop hold down shift+alt while you're resizing a layer. Result: this will resize the layer and the center of that layer will stay still. :)

    Awesome video btw! :)
