  • do scotty plays in count basie big band??

    he is great

  • Scotty is in his 17th year with The Count Basie Orchestra

  • Video doesn't quite do the CD version justice, almost muting the guitar in the mix, particularly on the head. Scotty is playing a flumpet on this tune, and we never get to see it. Still if you like what you hear, rest assured that the CD is much better - with tracks far finer than this.

  • Hey Perry,

This video take was done on the first day of recording in New Orleans last year. We didn't use this take and actually re-recorded the song in Florida with Todd Williams on soprano and that's the one that made it to the CD. This was done with a camera video, but the entire two days was also done in high def with a professional video crew. We will put some of the takes on my site soon. Thanks for getting Say It Plain....all the best to you.....

  • Can't say I've ever heard a Flumpet/Sopranao front line before. Sounds killing!

Scotty if you ever read this, please know that you are one of my number one influences for sound concept on trumpet. Simple inspirational my brother.

  • wow thats all i can say. i just keep listening to your solo over and over.

  • All the best playing in C.B.Orchestra in the future

  • As I remarked in my online review last week, the CD version is tighter. That's not to say I didn't dig the video. In fact, I linked this video to my review instead of the one your press agent sent, which was way too brief and gave the impression - unintended, I'm sure - that you were humoring Clark at a home. Looking forward to seeing those clips at your site. Meanwhile, congratulations.

  • Looking forward to hearing the CD
