  • He's not mean't to actually hurt the guy. This is just to show you what to do if someone actually DID start a fight, the other guy isn't actually trying to attack the other guy, it's just for the video.

  • Hi!

It's true, it's just for the video, we could define this a standard attack to show some basics body movements and coordination concepts. It's not a real fight or a real situation, it' just a didatic video.

    Ciao and keep in touch!

  • only a beginner can block a kick with the hands.

  • no at my school it goes . (Beginners white belt, Baixingchuan yellow belt, Xingyichuan blue belt, Taijichuan green belt, Baguazhang brown belt, five grades of black belt, three grades of red master grades).

  • but the red belt is not only for the 10° Dan?

  • yes at least at my school it means master level, at least fifth dan black belt. this takes between 10 and 25 years

  • And to answer your first two questions, it depends on how the attacker mounts the defender. If you mean in the sense like you'd see in a lot of ring matches, the quickest method is to use joint leverage, but you can also use a series of what are known as "guard" positions (found in many arts) and grappling. Pressure points can be used to aid joint locks, especially in the regions of the elbow and wrist.

  • HaloDudeFromYak:

I know responding to a 5 month old post is usually "taboo" of sorts, but it's about time someone answered your question, right? I don't know if all styles of Kung Fu do. However, I can say with certainty that in Chi Lu Chuan (Shaolin 8 Animal) we do. The monkey specializes in ground fighting scenarios, while other animals such as the mantis, eagle, and tiger, all have pressure point & joint lock / grappling applications for such situations.

  • Excuse me, but the red belt the instructor is wearing; it has a great significance, correct?

  • ummm, what happens when the kung fu guy is mounted by a black belt in BJJ? how would he get out of that situation? yes kung fu has great striking, but does it have ground work? just curious.

  • never block kick with your hand. ur using a smallest part of your body to block the biggest muscle part = broken hand
