Tommy Danton was my Uncle. He was English and was in the RAF during the war. He used to sing with the big bands (better stuff than his Rock and Roll stuff in my opinion as he had a very good voice). He emigrated to Canada in the late 50s and worked as a singer for many years, appearing on TV and radio. This song was number 1 in Toronto. He went on to be a woodwork teacher after singing, as he trained as a cabinet maker before the war. He died about 7 years ago of throat cancer.
