Mike and Wang Laoshi, Basic Push Hands practicing summer 2006.
You will see no magic here, just grounded ideas that can help in ones arsenal of skills. Listening, neutralizing, connecting and following are the concepts teacher Wang implies are the basics for building ting-jing... Loads of fun to practice...

  • mikemartello, you have a great attitude. a credit to martial arts. there is much more to MA than blood sport. good to see some people working on taiji

  • andy33, thanks for the nice comments, I also see you enjoy taiji, it is hard for many to realize the wonderful art form of taiji. Keep up your training and enjoy a strong old age...

  • I looked a your videos. I saw you moving your hands and some guy jumping in the direction of your hands. Come on in this day and age everyone knows that it doesn't work like that against a resisting opponent.

  • Wiz... again, it is very hard to show CMA/IMA without everyone wanting realistic proof like what the MMA people show. I stand down to them, MMA are tough guys but they train for blood sport.

I train for health, old age and self defense. Besides a wonderful art form which is dying as you see also.

  • Wiz, Im totally agree with Mr. Martello here. He points out a very good point here about learning and understandig Ting Jing. Btw Mr. Martello, Shifu Paolo says hi! :)

  • Krist... Thanks, it is very hard to show CMA/IMA without everyone wanting realistic proof like what the MMA people show. I stand down to them, MMA are tough guys but they train for blood sport. I train for health, old age and self defense... Besides a wonderful art form which is dying...

Please say hello to Paolo for me.

  • the body mechanics are so subtel i wish i could see it more clearly :(

  • @wizcoolc

But you are completely wrong. I am from Taiwan and have seen stuff like this many times. This is actually very fundamental.

  • What a loss. So much potential not realised. I hope some of his students can realise it in his place.

  • People come here under-educated. Taichi is the best exercise to achieve internal balance, poise and internal strength from the superior reservoir of chi and mind over chi. The Chinese philosophy of 4 ounces bouncing back 1000 pounds(Jin) is reflected in the calmness and concentration of mind over matter. Taichi can cure disease, boost our mental and physical health and get us in touch with a larger being than ourselves. The movement is so beautifull su is the flow of chi. Why fight?

  • Farewell Mike, I will see you on the other side.

  • good tai chi

  • Yes that is me standing still. It is also me doing four push hand matches, one sparring match and two wrestling sparring matches.
