@TheHakim03 yup! That he did. I loved that about him. I adopt that power perspective my own life. We can create the world we live in. As an human he desired pure humanity. As an illustrator he shows us what the pure humanity story looked like. As an artist he designed his work to transmit that experience -- from his soul, thru the canvas and imparted into our soul. I wish I could have meet him. He's my favorite artist.
@ArtChee I agree with you 100% -- as a painter he was avoiding a conflict between his lines forming the head and the edge of the canvas. As an illustrator he also has to tell the story -- visually.
Rockwell was very anal about design. He writes about it in his book before he would even think about color or texture his drawing and design had to be perfect.
Also he comes from a long tradition of French draftsmen / artists. They were committed to the painter's secret geometry.
@Glovefullavasoline You called me a Boob. hahah That's soooo awesome. A few other people pointed out the low battery in the smoke detector too. oh well you can please everyone. - thanks for watching though. :)
@amanidakar What I can share with you about the other portraits on his easel is their art lineage is Dutch trained -- outside of the Spanish trained Picasso. Norman's art lineage is French. His teacher Bridgmen was trained by Gerome -- who was trained by Dela Roch and later Glayre who also trained Monet, Renoir, Whistler. Glayre & Dela Roch's "art" grandfather was David. So Rockwell's art lineage is French not Dutch.
he just want to make the world laugh like the world should be (that why we always find positive atmosphere and jokes at all his works).... you just make it line on the brow ha ha ha nice try
What a CROCK!! The lack of an "edge" on the canvas behind Rockwell's head is simply to avoid conflct with the edge of his head... plus, it is not needed. There are MANY more directional "lines" and "curves" that could be touted in the compostion, but these come in Rockwell's "eye", not artistic geometry.
I think Norman Rockwell would be laughing at your presentation......

I would live you to have talked about the other objects in the painting as well and their symbolism.. but otherwise great insight. Thanks!
