@forest1997 I don't miss Warren though. I'm not a huge Furthur fan, but they are jamming better than they ever have since the early '90s, and John's style and guitar tone sounds better with the band (i.e. more like Garcia). I understand some people have an issue with this, but I don't want to hear distortion-drenched, wailing, Gov't Mule-style solos ruining Ramble On Rose haha.

@unclesalty2008 i agree partly. he is nothing without the dead. ratdog BLOWS. he saw opportunity in jerrys death which is fucked up. and although warren shreds with allman bros and mule, with the dead he his below average...he plays individual notes when soloing and is nothing like jerrry, and he just blows.

I seen Ratdog and it was awful. Bobby(the corporate member) is nothing without the rest of the band. Warren is KILLER and a really nice down to earth guy. BOBBY IS A CORPORATE MONSTER!!!

" lets leave the sad thoughts behind, and play some music "..............Mickey Hart!!
.........absolutely man!

So much talent on one stage, Let there be songs to fill the AIR.

man ive never heard of a band that can still have as much as these great fellows, and still sound great, and still look like kids, and mess up a bit and still have so much fun
i think warren is the man for the job too, very respectable disciplined musician, who knows what the dead are still trying to do

Per the Phil/rhythm conversation.. to me Phil is a surfer of sound.. holds rhythm at times... freely expresses himself at others. To Letz, one thing about the Dead is they never pretended to be perfect... they mess up a bunch, and that's a nice thing about the fans and the culture.. total acceptance of one another (which the world could use more of). The up side is that they took risks most bands never dared to, which is part of their uniqueness. Glad to see you both agree to disagree.

Whoever was playing lead guitar on the 2003 The Dead tour rocked. He played enough like Jerry to keep the Dead sound, but also had his own style in there, and he absolutely smoked. The jams within and in between songs were some of the best ever.
