In a presentation at this summer's National Clean Energy Summit convened by the University of Nevada Las Vegas, Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV), and the Center for American Progress Action Fund, Dr. Steven Chu, director of the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratories, described why he has moved from his background in advanced laser research to tackling global warming, how the optimal way to reduce greenhouse emissions is to invest in energy efficiency, and what he has done to develop "new technologies to transform the landscape."

By "NPP" I assume you mean a Nobel PEACE Price? Chu won the Nobel Prize in Physics (not the Nobel Peace Prize), in 1997 or 1998. The is no higher accolade than winning the Nobel Prize in Physics. Any fool can win the NPP (even Kissinger and Arafat won one), but only intellectuals of the very highest order can win the Nobel Prize in Physics. Chu is an intellect of the highest order.

like Obama this is the man of reason we knew before the election. but during his time as energy secretary there was no talk of how important efficiency is, he just said super stupid things like batteries need at least 5x higher energy density to compete with gas.
